07-01-2015

LogoThe project initiative aims to develop and put in practice a “bottom-up” approach to regional development by identifying and engaging the natural leadership potential  of Bulgarian regions within a coherent framework of debate and collective action. The main purpose of the initiative is help consolidate and build synergies between regional pockets of success along the lines of constructive cooperation as a way to counteract the observed socio-economic atrophy in the regions in recent years. The project will take place in 6 regional conglomerates, purposefully selected to take into account the topography of economic activity at the regional level, social and demographic factors, as well as local political development: Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Burgas, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo-Gabrovo-Lovech and Vidin-Vratza-Montana. Project activities include PEST and SWOT analysis of the selected regions, identifying a thematic scope as a potential basis for debate, building leadership platforms in the selected locations, trainings and advocacy over the course of 36 months between January 2015 and December 2017.

The project is supported by America for Bulgaria Foundation.
