Strategic Planning and Advocacy: Instruments for a More Effective NGO Participation in Decision-making and Dialogue with Local A (November 2014 - January 2016)

01-11-2014

LogoCivil protests in 2013 highlighted the presence of an acute shortfall, related to the practical exclusion of the interests of citizens from the process of decision-making.

The current project aims to contribute to more efficient citizen participation in this process and more broadly - to develop sustainable forms of dialogue between citizens and public officials.

The objective will be achieved by increasing the skills of NGOs (as most effective vehicles for engaging civil interests in the democratic process) in strategic planning and advocacy in three cities with active citizenship - Pleven, Burgas and Stara Zagora. Project results include the increased experience of NGOs through the implementation of three pilot advocacy campaigns on current local issues, the creation of strategic frameworks addressing specific problems in the three cities, as well as models for sustainable interaction between NGOs and local authorities. Among the the primary  target groups of the project are NGOs, youth activists, local authorities and the media.

The project is financed within The Support of the Bulgarian NGO′s Programme through finance mechanism of the European Economic Area for the period of 2009 - 2014.
